Wow, I just realized I haven't written in like forever. But, he's doing really well. He wasn't in therapy for a while but they re-evaluated him after using the Sarita lift to get him out of bed. They thought he had improved, so now he's back in therapy and today he took 4 steps, rested, and then took 6 more steps, using the parallel bars. We have a blow up beach ball and we throw it and he'll either catch it or kick it. He is also up in the wheel chair for two meals, so he's getting more interaction with other patients. He's doing really well.

Sorry I haven't written in a while. He's doing really well. He's eating in the cafeteria. He's taking walks outside in his wheel chair. The catheter and the feeding tube are out and he's able to feed himself. That's pretty much it. But he's doing really well.

Papa Today

Uncle Larry had a chance to come up to visit and had lots of fun talking about their old memories. He's doing really well. He's back in the nursing home. The hospital had him off the feeding tube, though, and he's was eating really well. So Nana demanded that he was off the feeding tube and they said they would for a while and see how he does. He's been eating pretty well so far. He's was up today and he got a hair cut.

And he's back into the hospital. His sugar was way to high and they got it down. He also looked very bloated. They're admitting him at St. Joseph's. They think he is dehydrated and they're going to put fluids into him. So that's pretty much it.

Papa got into a nursing home. =D!!! It wasn't the one we wanted and it's way up on a hill but they have the best therapy in the area. That's what really matters. Tonya, my cousin, with Emma, her daughter, are coming up today to see him, so that will cheer him up. He gets free cable, so we're getting him a tv. He's been really bored. He can't wait to see the baseball games. If you want the address to the nursing home it's:
Van Duyn
Room 5c-506
5075 West Seneca Turnpike
Syracuse, Ny, 13215

Okay, so, he didn't get to go to the Crossing's because the flu is going around the nursing home and they're not letting anybody in. Well, we were disappointed at first but as soon as the flu was gone we would be able to go back to the Crossings. But then we got a call and they said they weren't going to accept him at all. We asked them why and they told us that they weren't even positive they were going to accept him in the first place and they were just thinking about it. But they can't tell us that because there was a van ready to pick him up. He was all ready to go. They're basically lying to our faces. So right now my mom's driving my grandmother around, checking out all the nursing homes around us. He still in isolation at the hospital, but other than that he's doing pretty good.

Great news- He's off to the Crossing's Nursing Home tomorrow at 1:00. He still has the infection. and is an isolation, but that means private room at the nursing home. =] Um.. well that's all... good news though.

I updated the blog a few days ago but I just found out that it never published. Um... Papa hearing comes and goes but it's gotten a lot better. He got moved again. He has his own private room. It's really big. Also, be praying because we're hoping to get him back into The Crossings by Monday or Tuesday. He's getting off the wound-vac soon. We also found out that he got rid of the c-diff but got it right back. It takes a while to get it fully out of his system. Okay, so just be praying for the nursing home.

I'm sooooo sorry I haven't written in forever. Between going to the hospital and all the work the teacher's have been piling on, it's really hard. Papa got moved to another room, and now he has a roommate.=[ He also lost his hearing. We have to yell in his ear. The nurse said it probably won't come back. She said it's from all the anti-biotics. He still has c-diff and there's no news on the nursing home. He's getting really sick of the food there, so we're pureeding some of the food we have and then bringing it into him. That's all. I'll try to update more. <3

People have asked for the address of the hospital. The hospital is St. Joseph's, but I don't know the address. We think it would be better to send it to our house and we'll make sure it gets to my papa. We don't know how long we're going to be there and everything. If you don't know our address it's :
105 Colchester Rd.
Minoa, NY 13116
There's not much new. He has c-dif back. There's no news on any nursing homes taking him. He's of his heart monitor and the doctor says everything looks okay except for the c-dif. Well, that's all for now.

To answer your questions, yes, he has a picc line and yes, he is still in the hospital. He wasn't sent back to nursing home because he has a blood clot. The nursing home near us won't take him because the care he needs is too expensive. We're trying to get him into other nursing homes, but there's only three nursing homes that qualify to take him. So right now, he's just staying at the hospital.

He's doing really good. They're planning on sending him back to the nursing home tomorrow. He's enjoying ice cream that we buy him. He won't eat much of his dinner. He had an ultrasound on his arm because it was swollen. It really hurt him. Well, that's it.

Thursday, January 10, 2008

They've moved him around to so many different floors in the hospital. He had surgery last night to get rid of his bed sore. It went well. He's finally settled on the first floor in a really nice room. We still don't know when he's coming out of the hospital. We really think that getting rid of all these infections will help him get better so much faster. He didn't really wake up tonight. The anesthesia still hasn't worn totally off. Plus yesterday was very tiring for him. Well, that's all for now.

Tuesday, January 1, 2008

He's still in the hospital. Two of the infections are gone. He still has one. Papa's very alert. He's getting mad at doctors and these stockings he has to wear. He's doing really good.
